The Mānoa Urban ʻŌhiʻa Project aims to enhance the health, beauty, and ecological diversity of Mānoa Valley; an ideal location for growing ʻŌhiʻa and a place with a diverse and deeply rooted community. In partnership with Mālama Mānoa, we have created an urban ʻŌhiʻa inventory and provided family households with ʻŌhiʻa trees for their yards.

INITIATIVE

Goals for this project

  • Provide 10% of the valleyʻs 3,521 family households with an ʻŌhiʻa tree.
  • Create an urban ʻŌhiʻa inventory to track our efforts, assess the existing population, and be prepared should Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death become detected on Oʻahu.
  • Create outreach materials such as care instruction to accompany trees.

'ōHI'A
