The vision of the 'Ōhiʻa Legacy Initiative is to have the ‘Ōhi’a become a symbol of our Islands, to spread awareness of native plants, perpetuate Hawaiian culture, provide habitat for native birds, and increase the health and vitality of the land for the people of Hawai'i.
To do this, we aim to establish the 'Ōhi'a tree as a common feature in both residential and public areas of Hawai'i so that this keystone species can be recognized and enjoyed for generations
How to reach the 'Ōhi'a Legacy Initiative.
The 'Ōhi'a Legacy Initiative plants 'Ōhi'a Lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) trees in urban areas of Hawai'i to expand this vital natural and cultural resource.
By making a donation or becoming a partner, you can help to increase the health of our aquifers, expand cultural resources, prevent erosion, and create habitat for native Hawaiian birds such as the 'Apapane, 'I'iwi, and 'Amakihi. All support goes directly to helping us grow more 'Ōhi'a trees.
